Thoughts about the Character:

I thought Ilma would have had a difficult childhood, she was raised by her grandparents after her mother died in childbirth, they resented her mother so much for having a child of an unknown man and ended up treating Ilma pretty badly because of her mother mistake, because of it Ilma grew up as a timid person, with a very low self esteem, her grandparents would also often compare her with her mother, saying her mother was wild and irresponsible, that Ilma was her mother's mistake. Ilma never questioned her grandparents but she was really sad because all she knew about her mother what the insults and critiques her grandparents always said.
There would be a rumor around the town Ilma lived that her mother had an affair with the feudal lord there, and so, Ilma decided to go ask the lord about how her mother was, when she reached the mansion the lord refused to see her but his wife took pity on the girl and went talk to her, it was then that Ilma got to know her mother better, the lord's wife told everything she knew, she confirmed that the rumor was really just a rumor, that Ilma's mother was very proud and would never sleep with a married man, in the time she worked at the mansion she was a very close friend with the lord's wife and as soon as the lord began flerting with her, she resigned because she didn't want any trouble. Ilma was overjoyed to hear some of the history of her mother, she was happy to know her mother was indeed a good person, it gave some new kind of strenght, and that night when her grandparents started their argument she defended her mother's honor, she told them everything the lord's wife told her and asked them to stop insulting her mother, as a response, she was casted out the house and her grandparents told her to only come back when she matured and stopped being like her mother.
Ilma was determinated to believe her mother she went to the town hall and asked for her birth registration, and together with it there was a letter of her mother to her, her mother knew that maybe she couldn't live through the child-birth and on that letter she told her daughter how much she and her father loved her, that he needed to leave because of his job and she was supposed to follow him as soon as she gave birth but if anything should happen Ilma should search for her father alone. The letter contained a male name with a military rank and some money for her to go see him. When she finally reached her father, he was overjoyed! she was the spit image of her mother and he recognized Ilma at first glance, he was indeed a ery high-ranked soldier and with his influence he got Ilma to join his forces so they could be together and she could learn everything she needed to be a knight.
I thought that even tho she was given a high rank because of her father Ilma sure was determinated to change herself for the better, she now believes in herself way more and with the support of a loving father she had everything she needed to succeed as a knight (Even tho her father was very affectionable, he was also really strict when it came to her training, he didn't want people to minimize his daughter worth just because of her status as the daughter of a powerful man)
